(GIGA stands for Groupe Interdisciplinaire de Génoprotéomique Appliquée - ‘Interdisciplinary Group for Applied Genoproteomics’) is a remarkable building, both in terms of its architecture and its reason for existence. It is the final component of GIGA’s facilities, built on the grounds of Liège’s University Hospital Centre. It contains meeting rooms, a kitchen and a dining hall, and specific facilities such as a laboratory, clean room, refrigeration facility with safety outlets. Its purpose is to serve as an incubator for companies and spin-off projects active in the biotechnology sector. It is the result of close collaboration with two specialised stakeholders, MEUSINVEST and the University of Liège. It has benefited from FEDER co-financing within the framework of the 2007-2013 Structural Fund programming for the "GIGA Bio-Industry Support" Portfolio.
