Situation and transports

The Province of Liege enjoys an ideal location at the heart of Europe. The easternmost province in Belgium, Liege lies just a few kilometres from the neighbouring countries. It is highly accessible and perfectly served by state-of-the-art infrastructure such as Liege Airport (the seventh largest cargo airport in Europe), the Port of Liege (the third biggest river port in Europe), a high-speed railway station (designed by Santiago Calatrava) and major motorway networks. This infrastructure has enabled major growth in terms of logistics, a sector which plays a key role in the economic development of the province.
